Liz Magor is interested in the life of ordinary objects and what they reveal about our habits of consumption, care or obsession.ln her sculptures, noble materials become fragile and temporary materials become permanent, as here with this large cardboard box covered with gypsum, giving it a mineral appearance. The artist combines various intimate objects, protected in a plastic pouch. Having lost their function, they contain stories that testify to the emotional bond that binds us to these small things that are comforting, but also insignificant. The sculpture is reminiscent of an altar or a still life, referring to the vanity of our need to possess.
