Chaise longue Pi
1982 - 1983
Martin Szekely designed the Pi chaise longue in 1983, in response to a “carte blanche” commission from French design organisation VIA. Initially designed for the carbon fibre he was keen to explore, technical difficulties resulted in it finally being produced in steel. This first piece led to the development of the Pi collection (chaise longue, bookshelves, carbon chair), all based on elementary forms, expressing the idea of the essential, of simplicity and thriftiness.
