The Blind Leading the Blind #58
2013
For his series The Blind leading the Blind, Buggenhout piles together waste materials to create works with no distinct form that perturb our criteria for taste and disgust.
This work is composed of a mass of industrial materials to which the artist has given an almost organic quality. lt could be reminiscent of an archaeological abject testifying to a forgotten past, or a concretion from the pulverisation of an industrial wasteland. With this chaotic and disturbing construction, Peter Buggenhout questions the complex relationship between humans and their environment in the Anthropocene era.
