Protocolar Garden

Achraf Touloub’s drawings are inspired by the motifs and symbols of oriental miniatures. Yet viewed sideways on, Protocolar Garden is a structure as much as a drawing, not only a graphic exercise but an endeavour to challenge the norms of the museum presentation of art. The artist here puts into question the idea of the frame by allowing it to escape the drawing to also enclose some of the surrounding space.
