Tree 5 is one of a series of “Tree” shelf units, whose structure incorporates tree trunks and branches. Since the 1980s, Andrea Branzi has sought to reconcile craft and industrial technology. Echoing the “Animali domestici” series of 1985-1987, the first to combine natural and industrial materials in an exploration of the idea of the primitive, this work raises questions about the human relationship to the environment.
