"Architecture sees its foundations resting in the past. It roots us in a continuum with the past." (Braghieri)
Gianni Braghieri and Rosa ldo Bonicalzi ended their studies at the Polytechnic University of Milan with a project for the city of Pavia, which caught the attention of Aldo Rossi. Braghieri's design established the link between the ancient and contemporary cities; In the centre, he presented a plain, monochrome image of the contemporary project. The stormy sky of the upper part lends a dramatic aspect. The lower part is devoted to an engraving by Giovanni Antonio Antolini, a 19th-century Italian architect and town planner.
