Chaise
1948
The architect Oswaldo Arthur Bratke was a major exponent of the modern movement in Brazil. In 1948, he produced the prototype for the wooden chair here, whose four component parts are held together by means of a single screw beneath the seat. It is typical of the experiments Bratke was carrying out at the time on quality furniture that was inexpensive, sturdy, could be taken to pieces and was accessible to the great majority.
