Back in Bucharest after studying art in Paris, Romanian painter and architect Martin Pinchis developed a “spatial urbanism” interested in the new plastics. He submitted his designs to journals abroad such as L’Architecture d’Aujourd’hui and participated in international architectural debates. His dynamic urban visions take the form of “three-dimensional” cities in search of organic functional configuration. In September 1965, Pinchis provided the cover art for US journal Arts & Architecture; in 1967 he published an article on “the architecture of artificial satellites in orbit”, developing a theory of urban structures in space.
