Vase Ladoga
1982
Despite an apparent sobriety, these ceramics present a complex decorative treatment through a hybrid composition that plays with symmetry.
On the occasion of the Memphis collection in 1982, Matteo Thun presented a series of white porcelain objects in which formal research took precedence over functionality. The Ladoga and Titicaca vases and the Kariba fruit bowl, whose names refer to the eponymous lakes, are made up of a playful, sculptural collage of geometric forms with experimental design. Following on from Alchimia, Memphis asserts its commitment in favour of arts and crafts capable of merging with new production technologies.
