Natalia LL toys with the imagination and expectations of the viewer through this work of dual meaning.
ln the 1970s, Natalia LL began looking to conceptual photography to explore the link between consumption and eroticism, as perceived in popular culture. For her famous Consumer Art series, she staged models engaged in the act of eating. In this photographic sequence, the young woman raises her finger to her mouth and licks her lips. Through the prism of collective imagination, the objective recording of banal facial expressions is transformed into highly suggestive gestures, which are in turn transformed into signs.
