Fauteuil Costes
1983
In 1979, Philippe Starck set up Starck Product to sell his designs and in 1984 began to collaborate with leading furniture manufacturers. In 1981, he produced a series of prototype chairs for Café Costes in Paris, the first being called the Don Denny. This simple and elegant chair consists of a tripod leg assembly of steel tube and a back-support of black-lacquered bent plywood. This was the inspiration for the Pratfall chair that Driade would manufacture in different versions from 1985 onward, in mahogany, walnut or cherry-wood veneer.
