Chaise "3105"
Chaise "3105"
"A building is not finished until it is fully fit to live in." (Jacobsen)
Arne Jacobsen, the Danish architect and designer, approached architecture as an envelope that had to contain all other domains and thus constitute a global work. For the Munkegaard school which he built north of Copenhagen, he designed Chair "3105", known as Mug (Mosquito). lt is a variation on Chair "3100", Ant, which established his reputation. The back and seat were made out of one piece. The chair is stackable and produced industrially at minimal cost. lt came in three sizes, depending on the age of the pupils. Jacobsen was one of the signatories of the Groupe Espace' s Manifesto in 1951.
