Through this geometrical structure, Laurent Grasso tackles the theme of generalised surveillance.
The starting point for the creation of this luminous sculpture was the research undertaken by the artist on Echelon, an American military programme for the interception of public and private communications, founded in 1947. lts branches could be found across the globe. They were usually hidden in geodesic spheres whose facets were meant to improve signal reception. Grasso reappropriates this shape -popularised by the domes of Buckminster Fuller, a utopian American architect- to evoke manipulation and the invisible control of citizens.
