Eyedrawing : autre vanité 1
2009
Accustomed to working together with high-level scientists, Michel Paysant (born in 1955 at Bouzonville, France) creates his Eyedrawings at the Cognitive Neurosciences and Brain Imaging Laboratory of LENA at the Salpêtrière Hospital. With the aid of high resolution cameras (eyetracker or oculometer) that capture the slightest instinctive eye movements over a 60-second span, the computer generates a trail that faithfully reproduces the trajectory of the artist’s eye over an object. The present drawing superimposes the results of three consecutive sessions, each of them having previously led to a drawing, also included in the Museum collection. This fascinating process allows the artist to free himself from questions of dexterity and style.
