Picasso Grosz
vers 1967
Errô confronts dramatic news images with childish illustrations or combines them with reproductions of revered art works.
Bearing in mind the compulsive collagist he was to become, it is interesting to note that before moving to Paris in 1958, Errô, an lcelander, studied mosaics in Ravenna. The action is the same. Only the tools and material change. lnitially influenced by Surrealists, he selected and processed his raw material for what it communicated. Because cutting up first means focussing the attention. And Errô's efficiency derives from the contrasts between his sources and their coming together.
