Maquettes intérieures pour un décor supergraphique
1973
Colour-designer Jean-Philippe Lenclos invented the concept of the “geography of colour©,” which he has applied throughout his career to urbanism, architecture and design. From 1968 to 1973, he worked for the magazine Elle, promoting among its readership a new awareness of colour in interior design. Here he used a supergraphic approach to reorganise the space. Inspired by the American Barbara Stauffacher’s work at the Sea Ranch residential complex in California, he created a monumental motif which, through the play of contrasts, reorganises the reading of the space. He used a shiny lacquer from Peintures Gauthier, the paint manufacturer whose director he was before he set up his own firm, Atelier 3D Couleur, specializing in the design and application of colour in three dimensions.
