Bribes de corps
1973
Lines and forms are stretched and matched to become the loving companions of each other.
A major figure of Lebanese modernism, Huguette Caland began the Bribes de corps series when she arrived in Paris in 1970, giving a distinctly erotic twist to her work. The artist' s moving line drew allusive forms that evoked intimate parts without ever defining them precisely, while the colours surrounded by soft shadows went beyond those of the skin and drew nearer to pop tones. ln this series, in which certain paintings are clearly self-portraits, the self iis unfolded and turns the body into a landscape.
