Fauteuil Djinn
1964 - 1965
This armchair derives its name from the genies of Muslim tradition, known as "djinns", which can change shape at will.
Having studied at the Boulle school and in the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in 1959, Olivier Mourgue began a long-lasting collaboration with Airbone, which produced the Djinn models in 1963, a family of seats designed around lightness, mobility and flexibility. ln each of his projects, he played with formal and chromatic interactions between elements. Representing 1960s lifestyles, these armchairs proved to be sufficiently futuristic for director Stanley Kubrick to commission the designer for the décor of his film 2001, A Space Odyssey.
