L'Adorable Trixie
1975 - 1978
This diptych is representative of an oeuvre full of exuberance and vitality and freely combines elements of autobiography, mythology and sexuality.
Dorothy lannone was a self-taught artist who forged a path for herself through a self-fictional body of work whose graphic and ornamental character was inspired by all civilisations, without hierarchy. The left-hand panel relates her life story from childhood in thirteen frames. The tenth frame is an allusion to Dieter Roth, lannone's mentor, muse and lover. By 1975, she had already separated from the German artist who contributed to making her life a “long journey” full of love and freedom. lannone was an ardent defender of free and ecstatic love and expressed herself through texts, paintings, sculptures, songs and videos.
