"My aunts are devoted to art. The atmosphere was stimulating, rich..." (Roberta González)
Both father and daughter made several portraits of their sister and aunt, Pilar González Bassa, who lived in Paris from 1913 until her death in 1951. For Roberta González, these family portraits formed a corpus of motifs for her research on form and colour. Sometimes figurative, sometimes destructured, the faces of "T?a Pilar" seem to constitute an intermediary stage before
her series of Femmes angoissées.
