Reconstructions / Dark Mirrors
2019
ln his Reconstructions series, begun in 1991, Polanszky uses a variety of materials which he transforms into hybrid and spontaneous structures.Rudolf Polanszky has worked since the 1970s with lard, animal prints, helicoidal springs and parts of his body. His works study the process by which our behaviour is guided unconsciously. For this "relief-picture" he juxtaposes, notably, aluminium and plastic foil to produce luminous and reflective concretions. The traces of wear and tear are the result of random incidents which the artist deliberately allows to contribute to the free emergence of forms.
