Moonshiners shows the documentary aspect of Sergiy Solonsky's practice.
Here the photographer from the second generation of the Kharkiv school takes on a social subject, makers of contraband alcohol. But in these photographers presenting his neighbours living in extremely precarious conditions, Solonsky subverts the way we usually see this violent deprivation. The fantasy emanating from these images sheds a paradoxical light on the everyday lives of these families living on the margins of society.
