Two principles are contrasted here: the meditative character specific to contemplation and the tumult of human passions.
Set on the uniform blue background, a motif of twelve round shapes occupies the middle part of the composition. The large red scar that crosses the space from top to bottom like a stab disturbs the regular rhythm of their progression, unless it might have been the starting point. These black pebbles are reminiscent of the rocks that compose the Zen gardens of Japan in an apparently random fashion.
