"Mark Brusse sees the outside world with the eyes of the inside." (Pierre Restany, critic)
On returning to Paris after his stay in Berlin, Mark Brusse worked with assemblages of objects whose symbolic power he invoked. While retaining wood, his favourite material, he opened up to other materials, like rope and fabric in this case. The shapes of the bolster and the chimes, along with the title of the work, suggest an awakening that is both poetic and disturbing. The sculpture is presented as an enigma that is open to all interpretations.
