This major work takes the form of a giant multicoloured cocoon.
Judith Scott, who was deaf and dumb and had Down1s Syndrome, was initially placed in various institutions before being welcomed to the Creative Growth Art Center in Oakland in 1987, thanks to the support of her twin sister. She then became one of the most remarkable artists practicing Art Brut. She made enigmatic textile sculptures out of multiple objects that she assembled and enveloped in an original manner by superimposing and intertwining coloured threads, fibres and fabrics. This highly symbolic work forever conceals its central corpus in order to preserve everything that links the artist to the world.
