Composition A.XX
1924
"All my work is a paraphrase of light."
As a part of the Paintings of light series, Composition A.XX stands out by the economy of its plastic vocabulary: two black circles crossed by transparent rectangular bands and linked to each other by oblique planes suggesting a third dimension. The work was presented for the first time at the Bauhaus exhibition of 1926 in Dessau, where László Moholy-Nagy had been teaching since 1923.
