Unlike the work of his peers in the Vremya group, for whom the social dimension was of primary importance, the work of Oleg Malyovanyi focuses more broadly on the beauty of the body and the question of intimacy. ln this series made in 1992 after the fall of the USSR, the artist presents the choreography of a naked couple in an apartment. This representation of nudity forms part of a larger history of what could be shown, and what not, in the country. Suspected of pornography, Malyovanyi himself was under KGB supervision.
