Le Forum
1970
This model shows a stone ensemble, 3.5 metres high and covering 200 m², designed in 1976 for a secondary school in Seine-et-Marne.
Simone Boisecq is driven by her reflection on emptiness and the viewer’s position in space. She evokes the quasi-religious dimension of this sculpted Forum, with its benches separating the sacred world from the profane, and imagines a collective life unfolding in this space defined by her sculpture. Driven by a “desire for architecture” and a vision of sculpture as an integral part of the city, Boisecq created a dozen monumental works in France between 1956 and 1982.
