The event is over
Ramses, thirty five, runs a clairvoyance practice in the Goutte d’Or district in Paris. A skilled manipulator and a bit of a poet on the side, he has built up a strong business of consolation. But the arrival of children from the streets of Tangier, as dangerous as they are untouchable, upsets the stability of his business and that of the whole neighbourhood, until the day Ramses has a real vision.
Clément Cogitore, Sons of Ramses, France, 2022, 98 min, original version with French subtitles
With Karim Leklou, Malik Zidi, Ahmed Benaïssa, Elsa Wolliaston, Jawad Outouia
Semaine de la Critique - 2022 Cannes Film Festival, 2022 Busan International Film Festival
“While remaining faithful to his obsessions – the origin of images, their sacred character, the darkness and light from which they come, etc. – Clément Cogitore has always navigated between contemporary art (videos, installations) and cinema. For his second feature film, he travels to the heart of an area familiar to French cinema to explore it in a new way: social realism, which he gradually shifts to fantasy and mystery.” Cahiers du cinéma
Closing session presented by Judith Revault d’Allonnes, the Centre Pompidou, and Charlotte Garson, Cahiers du cinéma, and followed by a virtual meeting with the filmmaker
