The event is over
A passive mother is devoted body and soul to her husband and children. Locked into a monotonous daily routine of mundane and repetitive tasks, she makes herself as small as possible. But a magic spell at her four-year-old son's birthday party triggers an avalanche of absurd and improbable disasters that befall the family. The magician turns her husband, an authoritarian father figure, into a chicken. The mother has no choice but to come out of her shell and take on the role of head of the family, doing all she can to get her husband back.

Grand Prize at the 2021 Semaine de la Critique by the Cannes Film Festival
“The first feature film by Egyptian director Omar El Zohairy, Feathers was one of the great revelations of the last Cannes Film Festival. It is not often that a filmmaker instantly makes an impact with a film that is unlike anything you have ever seen before. Every shot of the film is a sort of small ephemeral cabaret, in which the incongruous and the absurd appear as naturally as possible, like a hidden dimension of reality revealed through black humour.”
