As an introduction, two video postcards will be presented from the collective film Je Vous Écris de Seine Saint-Denis (2021), a filmmaking workshop held in this department, led by directors Bijan Anquetil and Paul Costes.
Aubervilliers, Eli Lotar

Life in areas with unsanitary dwellings; shot by Eli Lotar and narrated by Jacques Prévert, combining political critique with poetry. Footage of children confronted with poverty are the leitmotif of this film, to the soundtrack of the song Gentils Enfants d'Aubervilliers, Gentils Enfants des Prolétaires.

Ten Romani families move into an urban wasteland allocated to them by the Saint-Denis municipality. With materials gleaned here and there, each family builds their ingenious, sometimes comfortable home. To respond to the local council’s requirements, the group implements rules for communal living.
