The event is over
To accompany the reopening of the Centre Pompidou, artist Jean-Charles de Castelbajac has been invited to create a performance on the Piazza. His artistic universe and his palette of colours resonate with the iconic architecture of the building. Come and share a highly colourful day of festive and creative activities expressing the joy of coming together at the Centre Pompidou.
"This interactive performance with four artists subverts the tradition of the Surrealists' cadavres-exquis game, transposing it to the real life with painting-dresses. I imagined twelve monolithic white dresses cut from the canvas of paintings and worn by men and women in the public in accordance with the alternating and instinctive actions of the performers. An improvisation around a limited range of colours embodying life, red, blue, yellow, green, a chromatic mirror of the Centre Pompidou. Abolishing the frontiers between art and fashion, between the museum and the street, between paintings and dresses. The performance is punctuated in time with a sound improvisation by artist Julien Granel, as it unfolds before the public, which witnesses the development and conclusion of the collective work, born of the mystery of the fusion of four imaginations."
