Spectralism experienced widespread ramifications outside of France. In Italy, Fausto Romitelli created a unique hybrid between the psychedelic dimension of rock and the conceptual rigour of his composition. Finnish-born Kaija Saariaho shaped her ‘timbre axis’ by integrating harmonic and formal organisation. The music of James Tenney, a key figure of the American experimental movement, draws attention to a continual phenomenon in a highly dilated time frame his work is perfectly suited to an unconventional space such as the Forum in the Centre Pompidou. The creation of the concert, that of the Iranian Sina Fallahzadeh, is inspired by the myth of Gilgamesh. Vocal metamorphosis and morphing are at the heart of Metanoïa; the search for an imaginary archaic language and a unitary form.
With Élise Chauvin, Mathieu Dubroca, Julie Brunet-Jailly, L’Itinéraire and Mathieu Romano.
