Roman Signer

Staged in the countryside or the domestic environment, Roman Signer's performances over the past forty years are based on the physical laws governing natural phenomena. Within meticulous set-ups, the artist recreates the confrontation of energies. The incongruous and unpredictable character of the situations presented, making play with irony, poetry, lightness and gravity, are part of the narrative process of the material's transitional state. Photographs, videos and installations bear witness to it, recording the trace of the action or the preparatory set-up.

"In Vivo" is devoted to performance, where an artist present in the contemporary collections is invited to express him/herself through their work, and/or to give a performance. This evening, Roman Signer presents a selection of his works together with a performance.
