New approaches using photography in conceptual art. The study of conceptual art as the art of dematerialisation has established the idea that photography has played an essentially documentary role in this context. This seminar examines the materiality of the photographs produced in this way. It involves focusing on the multiple uses and functions of photography in so-called conceptual art, the means implemented and the different presentation and exhibition methods used, in view of providing a fresher, more international interpretation of this fundamental moment for contemporary art. As well as the USA, the accent is on the French, German, Italian, Eastern European and Latin American scenes.
Two-day international seminar. With Larissa Dryansky, Cristina Freire, Guillaume Le Gall, Karolina Lewandowska, Alexandre Quoi, Giuliano Sergio, Robert Slifkin, Alexander Streitberger, Erik Verhagen, Jean Le Gac and, subject to availability, Christopher Williams.
