The event is over
Born in Paris to Chinese parents and a former student at the École Normale Supérieure, Anne Cheng currently occupies the chair of the intellectual history of China in the Collège de France. She studies the history of ideas in China and in neighbouring cultures. A translation of Entretiens de Confucius (1981) and Histoire de la pensée chinoise (1997) published by Seuil figure among her many publications. For the Belles Lettres publishing house she co-directs the "Bibliothèque chinoise" bilingual collection. Here Anne Cheng questions the aspects of a "return to tradition" in a discourse on contemporary Chinese thought, a phenomenon that is also embodied in the world of art.
Conference by Anne Cheng followed by a conversation with Nicolas Idier, a researcher associated with the Paris-Sorbonne Centre for Research on the Far East.
