In 2009, Robert Wilson produced the show Kool, Dancing in my Mind, as a tribute to his long-standing friend and collaborator, the Japanese dancer and choreographer Suzuki Hanayagi, who had Alzheimer's disease. The Space in Back of You, a film made in 2011 by Richard Rutkowski, based on an original idea by Robert Wilson, retraces the career of Suzuki Hanayagi, whom Robert Wilson called "my teacher".
