L'aventure des objets

From 16th February to 15th May 2011, the Musée Tinguely is presenting an important retrospective of the artist Arman (1928-2005). The exhibition was created in collaboration with the Centre Pompidou in Paris, where it was presented last autumn, attracting a large number of visitors. Comprised of some 80 works from leading museums and private collections, as well as a selection of large-format films, sound tracks and diverse documents, this second stage of the exhibition in Basel provides a unique overview of the artist's work, in 7 sections, ranging from the beginning of the 1950s, to his late work in the 1990s. Five years after the artist's death, this is the first time a Swiss museum has dedicated a retrospective of this size to him. Following projects dedicated to Yves Klein (1999), Daniel Spoerri (2001) and Niki de Saint Phalle (2003), the Musée Tinguely is now presenting the work of yet another member of the Nouveaux Réalistes.
