600 Highwaymen

Establishing a place of intimacy between perfect strangers is the challenge taken up by the New York theatre group 600 Highwaymen. Representatives of a radical and innovative approach to live performance, the two stage directors Abigail Browde and Michael Silverstone construct events that examine the human presence with meticulous attention. In The Record, thirty-five strangers come together for an hour to demonstrate what they are and what they could be. Halfway between theatre, dance and collective hallucination, The Record constitutes a living assembly on a grandiose scale. Taking "us" as the subject, it celebrates the marvellous, ordinary strangeness of the present moment.
