Debate / Meeting
The connected city
26 May 2014
The event is over
"Digital cultures" cycle. The "intelligent city", after being the focus of numerous Utopias ranging from the phalanstery of Charles Fourier to "cyberpunk", was one of the themes of the latest municipal elections. We believe that information and communication technologies have the power to do everything: reduce crime, save energy, make public transport more efficient, and so on. Today, digital technology enables us to pinpoint ourselves, locate our friends and share everything in real time: but for all that, should we omit to leave room for the chaos, the unexpected and the confusion that are so much part of the urban space? The issue is to dream up a human digital city that provides an opportunity to recreate shared values and spaces.
With Philippe Gargov (anthropologist) and Emile Hooge (speciliast in ICTs applied to the city)
