From Pilote to L’Écho des savanes, Bretécher's work contributed to the comic strip's transition to adulthood during the second half of the 20th century. She was then addressing a wider readership, illustrating her times and their social and political concerns. Bretécher opened the way to intimate, feminine and feminist issues in the 9th art, and a whole generation of authors discovered her work in the Nouvel Observateur. How is this keenly-observed humour and social criticism echoed in today's strip cartoons? In what way were these themes the forerunners of the autobiographical comic strip and the graphic novel?
With Catherine Meurisse, Aude Picault, Fabienne Dumont/moderator: Matthieu Rémy, writer and journalist.
