Selected for the 60th Venice International Film Festival, the idea for Guerra, his first feature-length film, came to Pippo Delbono while on tour for the eponymous play in Israel and Palestine. The author sheds a frosty, poetic light on the ruins and misery of this part of the world where hate and massacres form part of daily life. Barbed wire, beggars and destroyed homes paint a sad portrait of a "Holy Land" marked by chaos. Beyond the case of Israel and Palestine, the director provides a universal explanation of war and the savagery of human nature.
