India Song

"I find India Song very beautiful. But I don't know how I did it. I dared, and then it was there." An ode to the actress Delphine Seyrig, India Song paints a picture of a mythical, splendid and sensual India, glorified by the enchanting waltzes of Carlos d’Alessio. Behind it lies another film, Son nom de Venise dans Calcutta désert, the "negative" of India Song, according to head cameraman Bruno Nuytten. Marguerite Duras shot the film in the Bois de Boulogne in the ruins of the Rothschild Palace, abandoned by the owners after it was occupied by the Germans in 1940. The two films share the same soundtrack: a unique occurrence in cinema history.
