Here the link between environmental and poverty-related issues will be discussed, with reference to the Environmental Justice movement. Initiated by citizens, this seeks official recognition of the links between cause and effect: for example, environmental inequality and global warming.
With Jade Lindgaard (journalist), Émilie Hache (philosopher) and Caroline Lejeune (teacher).
While environmental inequality between populations seems to be growing at the same time as global warming, there is an increasing expression of objections that the question of inequality has now been overtaken by the precise urgency of this climatic upheaval.
This link between environmental and poverty-related issues will be discussed with reference to what is called environmental justice, bringing together movements of citizens who are rallying to get the links of cause and effect between these two problems recognised in given places, thus leading to a redefinition of what ecology involves.
