Show / Concert
Versus Nunes
26 Mar 2013
The event is over
This evening, IRCAM pays tribute to the great, recently-deceased Portuguese composer Emmanuel Nunes. The program includes Einspeilung I and II, two major works from his cycle of the same name, which initially included nine solo pieces for violin, viola and cello. In this project, Nunes exploits the instruments' polyphonic potential, strengthened by the use of electronics. While Einspielung I is the cycle's most constricted and melodic work, Einspielung II is the most labyrinthine. The Versus duos convey the autonomy of individual lines or modes of playing and the polyphonic power: versus, the very spirit of counterpoint.
