Based on the Dialogues with Leuco by the Italian writer Cesare Pavese, These Encounters of Theirs stages mortals and gods performed exclusively by amateur actors, mostly peasants, who have immersed themselves in the texts for nearly a year. Four performances were given in the Buti Theatre in Tuscany, before the film was made.
Dolando (2002, 7’), followed by These Encounters of Theirs (2005, 68’) and The Journey of Jean Bricard (2008, 40’), by Straub and Huillet.
