A devoted follower of Bach and Schoenberg, Florent Boffard launches into George Benjamin's Shadowlines: six canon-preludes which conceal the art of the "combinatory" beneath a classical surface. Marco Stroppa, who joined the ranks of the great pianists when he was very young, aged 25, plays a memorable concerto where the orchestra is replaced by electronics.
