Vincent Thomasset

Lettres de non-motivation, based on a project by Julien Prévieux. For several years now, the visual artist Julien Prévieux has been responding negatively to job offers. Appropriating the social ritual of the letter of motivation, he confounds its codes and plays on them in a new way. These responses form a narrative with a political tone and the mannerisms of computer language… With his new creation, Vincent Thomasset takes these letters and transcribes the roles and languages arising from them. Five actors read the letters aloud onstage, each in a different way, varying from a highly detached style to an embodiment of the letter's character. By expressing their non-desire and their non-motivation, the performers assert their resistance to both games and the world of work with all its relationships of power. www.previeux.net
