The Orchestre national d'Île-de-France and IRCAM have joined forces to create the Élan Prize, in partnership with France Musique, La Maison de la Musique Contemporaine, and Éditions Durand Salabert Eschig/ Universal Music.
Composer Augusta Read Thomas and pianist Marie-Ange Nguci are chairing this international competition, which is a part of the IRCAM Academy and leads to a commission for orchestra and electronics. Élan offers the winners a composition workshop and the unique experience of working with an orchestra. An opportunity for a new generation of artists, an initiative to renew the orchestral repertoire, a joint action to bring electronics out of the state of exception in philharmonic life.
