The Souvenir – Part I
19 Mar 2023
The event is over
In the early 1980s, Julie, a young film student who is still seeking her path, meets Anthony, a charismatic and mysterious dandy. Taken in by the charm of this older man, she plunges blindly into what proves to be her first real love affair. In spite of warnings from her entourage, Julie locks herself progressively into a toxic relationship that may very well threaten her future.
"The Souvenir" is a film and its own reflection, a love story in search of its shadow – the shadow of a memory, where everything is already written down, archived, played out and saturated with emotion. One is a mind story, a "memorial"; Two is more physical, recounting a crossing, just as cats cross a garden, making their way through it, and the switch to the rites and vigilance of the directing."
